"The Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra scores a romance between the city and its residents"
by Kari Larsen

the author says how she came back from the west coast and realizes how much she missed Harrisburg. there was a November concert focusing on "Star-Cross'd Lovers". it is 2 works based on Shakespeare. By arranging the concert, the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra or HSO was led by Stuart Malina, a Tony winning conductor.  "West Side Story" was criticized for bringing the issues plaguing the streets of New York. but the sound of it in the orchestra recognizes what is at stake in the city. and love. This piece serves as a powerful remembrance.

i like how the main main photo has variety in it. but not too much color. it is neutral because orchestra instruments are brown and people are wearing all black. i like how it is in focus. the only thing i dont like is that the conductor is a little blurry because of the movement in his arm.

Robin Bowman – It’s Complicated: The American Teenager

She was a photographer concerned about human condition in crisis and aftermaths. She's been around the world taking photos. And she was published different.

All these photos are different because they are all posed. Another reason it is different is because it is in black and white and displays a sad emotion.

This photo makes me feel sad. even though the photo has a cute baby and should be happy and lively for the new life, it is very down and makes it seem having a baby is a terrible thing because he is sad and the girl in the back is looking down. this photo is posed. and a lot of times, photos are not posed and more recent photos tend to be in color.

I like this photo because she is in focus, but i don't like it because it shows terrible things. i hate how she is smoking when she has a puppy in her hand. the puppy is cute but she can do serious damage to her and the puppy. she seems a little young to smoke anyways. Bowman posed her and the edge seems to be framed also.

This photo is of a nineteen year old who works at a coal place. i like how it displays what he does. i don't like how he is sad. no teenager should ever be in his position. it makes me feel bad. She took this photo with a great background that shows where he works, but also what he wears . again it is black and white.

Photojournalism Project Proposal

I am going to take photos of kids sparring. Every month there is an in school karate tournament for the kids to compete with one another. I am going to take photos because it reminds me when i was younger. I used to also compete from age 5 to 11 so it would be cool to show my students the photos of them.

Portraiture

 Artsy
 Color
Black&White

This is my model, her name is Rina and she is my cousin. She is a sporty athletic person who likes dressing casual nice. She is outgoing and overall happy. I showcased her personality because she was chillaxing and i was like "smile" so i got her while she was doing some things. she is a quiet person a lot of times so i got some shots with her looking away. but with the right people she is open like the ones in the grass. she is at the same time a serious person who always has to do the right things and get things done perfectly so i had to explain her certain positions i wanted her to be in.

I really enjoyed this assignment. i liked how it made my photos look like i actually have skill. It was cool to realize how the pros will take their photos. having Elaine come in to show us some of her examples was a cool experience because i was able to adapt what she taught to what i can do. i liked how photoshop has actions. i never used them so i liked seeing the different effects and how it can change the photos. i loved the end results. I thought it was weird looking at the photos without edit and comparing it to the photo after editing it. but the end results were phenomenal i think.

My model liked it, and other people thought it was good also. some tips is to take photos on different days and use different outfits and locations. the most annoying part for me was finding a good time to take photos because it seemed to always be too late so we used indoors as a last resort. what i did well was telling her what to do and she listened which was really helpful.
